Michaels Haul and the Day I Wimped Out

I'd like to think I'm a crafty person. Since I was a kid, I would ask my grandma for money so I can buy nylon cords and beads to make my own beaded necklaces, bracelets and rings. I also got into making friendship bracelets - this one, I really loved - they're so easy and I feel like they helped me be more patient.

Lately, I've been seeing so many hand crafted jewelry that I'd like to try making for myself. I swear, this is Pinterest and all these awesome blogs' fault. I have seen SO MANY DIY ideas for cute accessories and recently found this necklace from Rays of Purple. I wanted to make it with different beads so I went to Wal-Mart and Michaels to look for the things I need. I walked around the store, walked every aisle, picked up a few things and when I got to the jewelry section...I got so overwhelmed, kept asking myself what everything was for and walked over to the holiday decorations section, then to the baking aisle, the stamps aisle and the holiday decorations aisle again. Got an email from Tyler though, that she too was overwhelmed at first so I'll give the jewelry aisle another shot...but this time, at Joann's! Anyway, after all the walking around, it was when I realized that I should stick to baking and decorating houses/apartments. I'm laughing at myself a little for being such a wimp but hey, at least I got inspired to play with paint and canvas again.

I got only a few things...
This decor.

And these stamps that I have no idea where I to use. LOL

  2. I too get overwhelmed in craft stores. So many projects, so little time. I have to have a specific thing in mind or I too wander all over the store. Enjoy your day!

  3. Hi Jan, you didn't wimp out, those stores can be over complex and have too many pretty things that its impossible to make any decisions. Whats great is you got your inspiration, and if you keep on going to these crafty places, you will gain more insight and great ideas.

  4. Pinterest is the perdition of me, it's kind of a collection of all the projects I will never do! hahaha!

I have my own idea about DIY, it's about making things that I NEED and will USE. I hate making DIYs if they're just going to be tossed ;)
