I Like Dog Parks and I Cannot Lie

With the vet's clearance, we finally were able to take the two dogs to the dog park last weekend. It was our first time for us taking two dogs there and I would say it was some really good family time.

Fox (per usual), barked, ran, barked, barked, barked, and ran. He's such a barker to appear tough but always runs to Ron or me when he's scared. He'll fight some of his battles but he's the type who feels much safer with his humans.

Chippy, on the other hand, forgot he had humans. When Ron unleashed him, he ran straight to another dog to play. He is such a sweetheart to everyone, except for that one dog who tried to hump him and that pissed him off. They fought, but the owner was understanding and just carried his dog (1 of 3 dogs) the rest of the time. Based on our walks, I thought Chippy was scared/mad at bigger dogs, however, after this trip, the dog he ran with the most is a komondor/chow mix (see big brown/tan dog in pics) and he had no trouble dealing with her.

I already cannot wait to go back. <3

More on Chippy :)

Let's start this week with something really good and talk about our new dog...

He was originally named Howie by the shelter staff because he looks like a hyena-- okay, you can laugh because it's true! :) He has so many spots and has a huge spot on the top of his head, it’s hilarious! His story is a sad one though, he was rescued from the streets of Duarte, CA by a high school student. She was on her way home when he saw him and despite being covered in ticks, she picked him up and took him home. A day later or two later, he was taken to the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society---how do I know this much detail? The girl who found him saw us walking Howie (and Fox) at our city's Farmer's Market a couple of weeks ago. No joke. I got chills and got the feels when she said, "I found him," and pointed at our new little doggie. We had a great conversation with her and I think she can rest well at night now knowing that the family who adopted Howie loves him.

We went through so many names. I came up with a lot that we rejected. But as I was holding Mr. New Dog at that time on my lap (on our way to PetSmart for his first bath with us), while Fox was busy chewing on his new cow ear, we came up with Chippy and loved it!

Going home from work and school just got better and our lives just got a little bit more sunshine.

DON’T SHOP, ADOPT.

This month was pretty damn good. Now let me count the ways…
  • The weather was not pleasant but views like this random street in Glendora makes me like living in LA a bit. This was taken on our way home from our favorite Cajun place, Stinkin’ Crawfish.
  • It’s been over 21 days so I guess I won’t jinx myself anymore when I tell you guys that I’m back to living a healthy lifestyle and it’s working. My goal is to not get skinny but just shed a few pounds so my clothes don’t go to waste. LOL
  • I got into quotes and I have been on Tumblr more.  That site has a lot of personally inspirational shit stuff.
  • From the 4th picture onwards, I think it’s fitting to declare this month our own personal Dog Month. This picture was taken when we were about to leave to check out dogs at the shelter...and guess what, it was also the day we found Chippy!
  • We adopted Chippy and it’s been a challenging but really fulfilling task to learn how to juggle your time between two little monsters.
  • I have been trying to walk with Ron and the dogs in the morning to get a little cardio in and to spend time with Ron. Our morning conversations are very interesting.
  • Spent a few hours of the first day of fall at a photo shoot, playing with the office dog.
  • I have been wishing for a more relaxed weekend and finally got it on the last week of September.
So how did your month go? :)

Our Busy Life Just Got Busier!

I am a busy person, in my opinion. I have Ron and a dog. I have three classes this semester, 2 of which I go to school for 3 nights a week, and I am now working full-time. I am the homemaker for the most part and I am also making time to be more fit now meaning, I make time to work out in the morning. Ron is pretty busy too. A full-time job, he's also doing some self-study, he works out 4 days a week after work, he plays basketball at least once a week and has been helping more around the house (I know, he's awesome). On top of that, he has me and Fox. Now, you know what we thought would be a great addition to our already busy life?

Another dog.

Yep, we got another one. He is the other apple of our eyes and he's a perfect addition to our little family. I am not going to say it has been easy because emotionally and mentally, it has not been the best feeling leaving the house with two little creatures already waiting for me to come back. I know I’ll get through it like I did when Fox was brand new but this feeling makes me anxious and waaaay too excited to come home. I mean, THE best part of my day just got better. And seeing our new little dog’s crooked tail wagging hard and Fox’s bright eyes all happy to see me makes the stress worth it!

Ron and I always tell our friends that Fox is the best stress reliever. Now that we have two, I can't imagine coming home to a quiet and peaceful home. LOL! I’ll write more about the new dog in another post but for now, I’m just happy to finally be able to let the news out to the interwebs because we’re done surprising our families!
