3 Things I'm Obsessing Over Right Now

The Spark Recipes App

I love love love this app. I have everything in their every recipe in our kitchen so all the recipes I'm interested in making are doable right when I get home! Oh and they have the Favorite this feature so you can just go back to your own recipe list. The app also shows the calories per serving, ratings and videos for some of the recipes. I've tried their General Tsao's and Mongolian Beef recipe and I was so glad I did. Both recipes were so easy to make...just make sure you have the right cut of meat ;)

The 30-Day Shred
via
I've been wanting to do this and I finally found the perfect time to do it. We're going to go camping on Labor Day weekend and our friends said the site is close to the beach...we all know what this means - you have to be in your bikini! So yes, I'm transitioning again to a cleaner, healthier, calorie-counting, portion-controlling, everyday-exercising lifestyle. Ron's back in the gym too so it's working out fine. Hopefully, I can get back on track with my Let's Get Physical posts.

Mangoes
via Serious Eats
I love mangoes. My sister brought a box of mangoes on the 4th of July and forgot to take her share home so I've been eating it...a lot of it. I eat one every lunch and dinner. Mangoes are the best.

What have you been obsessing on lately?

[UPDATED] Crepe-tastic Weekend!

My boyfriend has a teeny tiny obsession with crepes as in he craves for it every after dinner or meal. So while watching the (uneventful) Patriots and Broncos match, I had the urge to go in a quick run to Target to get ingredients for a crepe recipe I found online... I'll share the recipe when I log in through my computer. :)

The first photo below is from yesterday and the second one is from tonight ;)

UPDATE:
Here's the recipe I use (it is based on THIS)
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
2 eggs
2 tbsp butter, melted
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1-3 tbsp sugar (depending on your sugar craving)

Mix the flour and eggs. Gradually add the milk, water and butter. Beat until smooth. Then add sugar to taste. I usually use 2.5 tbsp because I make dessert crepes, I haven't tried the savory kind (with basil, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese). Heat the pan - medium heat. I use a 1/3c measuring cup when pouring the batter on the pan. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface of the pan evenly. Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes and turn to cook the other side.

Now for the filling!
I always use Nutella, chocolate syrup and bananas... when I'm making them for anyone else, I add whipped cream. ;)

Christmas [Late Post]

Just had my 5th Christmas here in the US last week. My family promised that we were only going to buy one present for each one but since my sister and I are giving gifts with our lovers ;) this year, we couldn't help but buy more. Also, my mom and I just keep on saying random wishes from our wish list and my sister and I just kept on buying more. My sister is not the type who says what she wants...maybe because she's not a big shopper and we know what she needs! :)

I got quite a lot of gifts last Christmas and I am extremely thankful. I am ultimately thankful for the food we have as well, my sister, mom, Ron and I went to the Filipino market and just got whatever we can and I cooked maybe 3 entrees? My mom and Ron bought an entree from the local Filipino restaurant and my sister made buttered veggies. There was so much food that it made me realize how much we have compared to the people who are in the middle of hard times because of the economy. The best part of the holidays though was that I got to spend it with the people I LOVE. My family, Ron and our friends. I was the prouf designated driver when we stopped by my friends' apartment at 130am so my mom, Ron and sister can drink. After two hours of shotgun drinking, we had to go because we need to go on a 2hour drive to San Jacinto, my sister's GF's family's house. They were all drunk at the time and were all exhausted - they all fell asleep in the 15 minute drive home. ;)

"We fuss and we fight and delight in the tears that we cry until dawn"

Last weekend was exhausting and bittersweet.

Exhausting.
On Saturday, we headed to Channel Islands Harbor to go kayaking and eat seafood for Grace's Nth birthday - she does not want to disclose her age for some reason, she's not even aware that my peoples already told me how young she is. Kayaking and eating is always a GREAT mix if you ask me. Paddling for a little more than and hour, burning all the calories and having that activity followed up by a chance to indulge in over 10 lbs of seafood is really a hit for me you know. ;)
When we got home (to our apartment, which was also the meeting place), my sisters and their friends prepared for a suprise birthday party for Grace and Barbs. I was about to leave but they asked me to help AND I heard the Mylo, the fatso is coming so I had enough reason to stay.

After the surprise, I headed to Carson, that's a good 30-35 mile drive for Koy's birthday. Met up with friends, Danna and Ron there and after maybe an hour there, we headed to La Puente for Coi, Mike and Ken's birthday. Everyone there was drunk and we left after a little more than half an hour because of Ron's birthday.

Bitter.
On our way home from the third party, Ron got ticked off because a friend at past 12midnight. I find it a little cute but he kind of took it to the extreme since I guess he does not really have a lot of reason to get pissed at me lately. Haha ;) I still think it's cute when he gets mad.

Sweet.
I had a surprise planned for him since Tuesday! While he was in class on Sunday, I went shopping for myself and for groceries for the surprise. I didn't want us to eat out that night - I feel like all the commute takes too much time from our lives and I've always wanted him to realize how inexpensive it is that we just cook our dinner when I'm at his place. I made Kwekwek (original surprise) and Pork Sinigang - he wanted me to surprise him for what we were eating for dinner. I also got mango ice cream for dessert but we were SO full already.

This weekend I realized that I still enjoy being in the kitchen - especially when I'm alone and I also love just having Ron watch me while I do stuff there. We also get to talk that way and I super enjoy that. He also turns to my Facebook News Feed when he sits at the counter while I work because he tells me everything he reads about our common friends.

How was your weekend?
