How to Wear Gold Shoes Casually

Visiting the Urban Light Exhibit at LACMA has become a yearly thing for me and Ron since our second anniversary. So glad that this time, we finally remembered to bring our SLR and got to take pictures. His Our cousin Rommel being there to take pictures was a huge plus! There's always a lot of people here so if you're coming, be armed with patience for people who will unconsciously bomb your photos with random parts of their bodies. Like in one of our photos, a girl was doing a vertical split against one of the lamp poles. Pretty impressive stuff!

I'm wearing my Old Navy penny loafers that I found in the store's clearance rack for less than $10. I knew it would be hard to convince my husband that it's a good buy but I think after a few outfits wearing 'em, Ron warmed up to the idea that gold shoes are not as loud as people think. It's not just for the gutsy and the power fashion bloggers, it's for everyone! It's like how I felt with my leopard print loafers (which are about to retire)--at first I was unsure but I still wore it and made it work anyway. :)

It's a Sparkly Season

Ron's cousin who works in Hawaii visited us last weekend for Thanksgiving. We have not taken someone around LA in a long time and although we almost failed in finding a Mexican restaurant in the eve of Thanksgiving because almost every place in town closed early, we had a pretty productive night despite them waiting for me to get home from school and and getting to the Farmers Market too late. Haha!

First place we took him to was the Grove. First place we took him to was the Grove. It was a win-win for everyone because 1) he's never been there, 2) stores were about to close so there was no chance we were able to shop and 3) Ron and I don't frequent this part of the city unless someone is in town.

LACMA with My Sisters

Because my car was not ready from the mechanic yet, I took the day off and crashed my sisters' day in LA. Our first touristy stop that day was the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.It was not my first time there but it always seems like it's the first time because there is so much to discover and the last time I went was over five years ago. Wish we had more energy and time to actually visit all the exhibits though!

The Last Bookstore

As promised in one of my previous posts, here are pictures of the wonderful Last Bookstore in Los Angeles. It is a must-go-to place for book lovers! They have new and used books, vinyl records, little galleries, and a $1 book section!

My cousin found this letter in the $1 book section. She read it and put it back for the next person to find it to read. :)

A Day Out in Los Angeles: LA Gun Club + Urth Caffe + The Last Bookstore

A few weeks ago, our cousin invited us to go to a firing range and because Ron and I are up for anything new, and I am personally up for anything that would allow me to spend more time with my cousins, I was so down. So we planned to spend our Sunday at the Los Angeles Gun Club. At first I was excited but as soon as we entered the area where the shooting lanes were, I started getting nervous and I wanted to run out.  Like I said in one of my Instagram posts, I did well but I did not like it. On a more positive note, I am happy that at least I can say that I have tried it at least once in my life.

I got so stressed that I wanted to eat afterwards. Hahaha! I saw on Yelp that Urth Caffe was only a quarter mile away so we went there. I loved everything that I/we tried, including the Green Tea Boba (thanks ate!) except for the salad - it was too earthy for me, I wish I had asked for a sweeter, fruitier dressing.

Our last stop was the Last Bookstore. This place is wonderful. It is indeed a candy store for book lovers and vinyl collectors. Also, it gave me and my cousin a hipster-y feeling. We loved this place and I plan to make a separate post because of all the amount of pictures that I took. Also, coming back is in our to-do list in the coming months. :)

Los Angeles-ing

Last week, my sister, our friend and I went to an adventure and met up in LA. We walked around to talk to some people to see if they have any job openings and also found a place where I can get my ring fixed - I lost a baguette and also wanted to get my ring cleaned.

Our first stop was at the Grand Central Market. The place has such a rich history, the place has been open since 1917 -- that's nearly a century! There were so many restaurants to choose from, if I didn't know what I was craving for, it would probably take me over fifteen minutes to choose what I'll be eating. They also have stands that sell fresh fruits and vegetables at a low cost. I've wanted to buy from there but I was going to take public transpo and I didn't want to train surf holding a bag of fruits. Oh and Epi stopped by to eat with us during her lunch break.

After Epi was off from work, we met up with her again to have coffee at Barista Society Coffee Boutique. I had their Iced Caramel Latte but it was too good that I inhaled it and didn't have a chance to take a picture of it. That night, I slept at around 3am because that shit was strong.

When they dropped me off at Union Station, I took my time walking to my platform and took a few pictures.

I took this last picture while I was on the platform, waiting for the train. The sky was so pretty that I could not help but take my camera out of my bag again to snap a couple of photos.

I Got Two Things on Tuesday

So Ron has some making up to do so he went with me everywhere I went yesterday. After eating healthy all day, I ended up having cheese flavored sweet potato criss-cut fries from Potato Corner and a large cup of sugar free tapioca milk tea from Tapex.

I didn't really plan on shopping (YEAH RIGHT!), I just wanted to spend my $10 for $5 Groupon at Potato Corner. It just so happened that the only Potato Corner by our house is in a mall. We stopped by Forever 21 and I noticed little signs by their huge sale section that said: Additional 30% off so I browsed around and found two things I really, really liked.

I got a pair of these cute blue shoes. They're not as velvety in person, they're very subtle and not too loud. Surprisingly, I do not feel barefoot while wearing them and I actually feel like my feet are getting some sort of support. Oh and they don't torture the back of my feet. Yay!

The second item I got that I just cannot put back in the rack is the Los Angeles shirt. I mean, just read it. ;) I am really looking for muscle shirts though. I'm all about muscle shirts and dresses right now. So last night, on our way home...

Me: Do you have a Superman shirt?
Ron: Ya, I got one for my birthday last year.
Me: Can I have it?
Ron: Ya.
Me: Can I cut the sleeves off? I want a muscle shirt to wear when the movie comes out.
Ron: Ya, go ahead.

I cannot wait for the long weekend - We get Friday and Monday off! Does anybody have any fun plans? :)

Well Spent Weekend

After work on Friday, I decided to go to the Urban Outfitters by my office since I learned that their sale items are an additional 50% off. I got quite a haul of the most random things but the ones in my the picture below are my favorites!

An hour or two after I got home, we left to drive to Downtown LA to party with our friends. My ring was put to good use a few times that night - one time I was dancing with my favorite SFO girl and two guys came up to us. I flashed my ring and said sorry and the other guy just won't stop bugging my friend. We had to grab Ron and pretend that they're together. LOL So he got a kiss from the both of us [look below] ;)

Saturday was another trip to Downtown LA. I SWEAR I hate driving in LA, I ALWAYS make sure that Ron drives when there is still a lot of traffic but this time, I had to go alone since it was some sort of a bride-to-be get together with the girls. Oh wait, I forgot to mention that my car decided to just die on my way there. DIE. After turning the engine off then on though, it started working again. Gah.

When I got home, I felt so exhausted and just stayed in bed, [finally] revised my header and social media buttons (LOOK!) and watched the boxing fight where I thought the Philippines' pride died when he got knocked out. At that point, I was getting sleepy and I had to text Ron to come home because I have not seen him for over 12 hours and the bed is starting to feel too big.

On Sunday, my sister wanted to get a suit for special occasions so we drove to DTLA (again) to shop. But then, the 2-hour shopping trip turned to a 5-hour one. I didn't get much, just a couple of bracelets and a couple of earrings. And of course, a trip to the Fashion District is not complete if Ron does not influence us to eat hotdogs with him. Haha!
