Gifts for Mom

My Mom is the easiest person to buy gifts for. I like whatever she likes and I guess because she was there when I was growing up, I get and understand her style. Also, she likes my stuff. Even if we live miles from each other, we still manage to borrow each other's scarves. LOL

Scarves - I just said it, my mom likes scarves but who doesn't? They're comfy, you can hide your hands in them, you can wrap it around your head (and look silly) to warm up your ears, you can wrap it around you and of course, keep your neck and chest warm. My mom found that Macy's has a great selection.

Coats - There are tons on the internet that you can find. It is best to pick ones made with wool or has thinsulate to make sure that the coat keeps her warm. Or at least be able to try them on so you know if the weight and the thickness of the coat is prefect for her. I'm a little picky about my coats that's why I only pick ones that are in my mom's closet. NOT KIDDING. I already have two and I plan on stealing acquiring more from my dear mother. If I could though, I would give my mom all the Olivia Pope coats I could find in the world...and then "borrow" them afterwards. LOL The ones above are from H&M.

Watches - I browsed Nordstrom for their best sellers and what I found were pretty much what I expected to see. Lots and lots of Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors. Make sure to pick one that's perfect for you mom, some moms like thicker watches with bigger dials and others, smaller dials and thinner chains. Does she like leather straps? Does she prefer to wear gold over silver? It can be a little intimidating but I'm sure you know your mom's style. :)

Jewelry - I think every girl needs a pair of diamond studs. Maybe that will be in my list next year. But seriously, I've been seeing diamond studs with screw backs everywhere I browse so if you have the money, get it for yo mama. Amazon has great deals for them and if you're a Prime member, lucky you, you can get them in 2 days after ordering.

Purses - Have you guys heard of MapleandWest.com? It's one of the best sites I found for purses. They also sell them at a discount and also sometimes have discount codes - best one I received in my email is a code for an additional 50% off. I think that was on Black Friday.

Gifts for Him

Ron is THE hardest person to get a present for because one, he has everything, two, the stuff he does not have are way too expensive for a currently unemployed wife. Actually, even when I had a job, it was still too expensive for me. More on what I am talking about in another post.

Watches  - You can never go wrong with a good watch just make sure it's his style. I found that Nordtsrom.com has a great variety of styles. If ever you decide to purchase though, make sure to check Amazon.com if they have the same watch available. Why? Because they usually sell watches at a cheaper price.

A Good Pair of Shoes - I married to a guy who has a thing for shoes. A big thing for shoes. I am pretty sure he has more pairs than I do considering I just purged my closet of old, unused shoes that I have no idea why I have been keeping. Anyway, I always find amazing shoes for guys at Gilt.com. The site recently held a sale for John Varvatos shoes and they were amazing!

Kindle Fire HD - I know, not everyone reads and almost everyone has a tablet but if your guy is a big reader, this little thing will be well appreciated. The capabilities of Kindles have evolved so much ever since it was first released so do not underestimate this little gadget. You can get them at Amazon.com or Best Buy if you will.

Cool iPhone Cases - There are tons at Fab.com that are beyond cool.

They're not really that weird but I know everyone asks for super fancy stuff over ones that are you know, stuff that we don't necessarily need but can make our lives better.  Or stuff that we always skip to buy because they are not that important like the last in this list ;)

Because the one I have is rotting...or just REALLY dirty. LOL

via
This Shoe Cabinet. Because Ron and I have too many shoes.

via
via
Because my current accessory holder is not enough to hold everything...anymore.

via
Because sometimes, I really need Ron to help me cut some vegetables.

via
More Socks. Because they keep on divorcing each other.

via
Because all of us need it. It's a grocery bag holder by the way.

Christmas [Late Post]

Just had my 5th Christmas here in the US last week. My family promised that we were only going to buy one present for each one but since my sister and I are giving gifts with our lovers ;) this year, we couldn't help but buy more. Also, my mom and I just keep on saying random wishes from our wish list and my sister and I just kept on buying more. My sister is not the type who says what she wants...maybe because she's not a big shopper and we know what she needs! :)

I got quite a lot of gifts last Christmas and I am extremely thankful. I am ultimately thankful for the food we have as well, my sister, mom, Ron and I went to the Filipino market and just got whatever we can and I cooked maybe 3 entrees? My mom and Ron bought an entree from the local Filipino restaurant and my sister made buttered veggies. There was so much food that it made me realize how much we have compared to the people who are in the middle of hard times because of the economy. The best part of the holidays though was that I got to spend it with the people I LOVE. My family, Ron and our friends. I was the prouf designated driver when we stopped by my friends' apartment at 130am so my mom, Ron and sister can drink. After two hours of shotgun drinking, we had to go because we need to go on a 2hour drive to San Jacinto, my sister's GF's family's house. They were all drunk at the time and were all exhausted - they all fell asleep in the 15 minute drive home. ;)

Santa's in Town Early

Believe it or not, I've already gotten presents this year! ;)

It's so tiny and light! (NWSS!)

I've always wanted a Sony W series point and shoot cam. I fell in love with the model series the first time when I got it for myself back in March 2009. I gave it to my sister after my vacation though so I was left with no camera for... almost 3 years. I just kept on borrowing my sister's point and shoot which gave out too and Ron's DSLR which always makes my purse feel so heavy.

So what Ron got me was the most recent model - a few models higher than the one I've been eyeing on at Best Buy and Target. I'm so excited to go on vacations and parties to use this camera! I'm not going for artsy shots with this, I'm gonna go for the funny moments that shall live on... if you know what I mean [hint: drunk people]. ;)

Well I shall not forget to mention that the boyf also got me a box of... wait for it... Ferrero Rocher! I don't know how I'm going to preserve the message he wrote on it but I'm sure going to keep that box and make the chocolates last for months!

Did Santa stop by your place as well?

Valentine's Day

Not sure what to give your for Valentine's day? I've listed a couple ideas for everyone. Considering that everything is overpriced these days, this list comprise of mostly homemade stuff or really good internet finds.

1) A Scrapbook
You can make a list of everything you love about your guy. This gift is cheesy, yes but imagine how much he'll appreciate it when he starts thinking about how much effort you exerted in putting the whole thing together...that would make him smile for sure!

2) Baked Goods / Cook for Him AND a Letter
Do you have any idea what his favorite dessert is? My boyfriend loves cookies and brownies - thank God his favorites are easy to make! You can also cook his favorite dish. You know what they say, "The best way to a guy's heart is through his tummy!" Letters are always romantic - no questions should be asked.

3) A Romantic Night

Did he already mention that you guys are going out for dinner on V-day? Well make sure you sleep in the same room that night to make this come to life. Set the mood by lighting candles and making the bed annoyingly neat so he'll get the urge to ruin it. *winks* Aaah, and don't forget the lingerie! Pink and black I think is sexier than black and red. Don't forget to be playful! Start the romance by teasing him; give him a lap dance, hand cuff him. just get creative! ;) I did a little research on Google and here's what I found. Enjoy. :p

Got any ideas? :)

I LOVE Christmas! You have no idea! I love seeing happy faces while opening presents, shopping for presents and the celebrations! Anyhow, the child in me loves to open presents. I've attended 2 Christmas parties this year, 2 awesome ones! I was reminded of how lucky I am to be surrounded by such lovely people.

The Crackies' (as we call ourselves) Christmas party was amazing. I have not been drunk for some time and it felt like the perfect timing to loosen up a bit. I've got reasons to celebrate you know, school's over, it's Christmas and it's our 1st year anniversary! I got a few presents from the party too! Bernice, one of my long-time (she was my only friend when we moved here, thank Mommy for introducing her to us) friends here in the US picked me as her baby for our Secret Santa gift-giving. I love how she tried to get me everything I wanted but I felt guilty that she got me everything I wanted and went TOO OVER the budget.

Here are the presents I've gotten so far (yes I'm expecting more from the family. Haha)...

Sophie Kinsella books!!!

A gift card to get myself a cookie dropper and a cooling rack for my holiday baking... Yes, I will definitely be baking this week!
Pajamas that I can use while I'm eating the treats I baked and reading a Sophie Kinsella book...

A mug that can be used in a car. Got it from the gift exchange at work.. I can def use this at work or when I'm driving to the east...

A Coach purse from Ron! For our anniversary. He actually got me a netbook for Christmas but I haven't had the chance to take a picture of it yet. I don't think I need to... ;) Anyway, just in case you're wondering how we spent our anniversary... we just went to the mall and looked for presents for our Secret Santa. Haha. We planned on snowboarding but there's a storm right now so we had to cancel the trip and suck it up. We were supposed to go to Big Bear but had to postpone for the Christmas party. :)

That's all folks! What have you gotten this season yet? :)
